Quick Mods

Quick-n-Easy Mods

Various mods that were easy to install.

I added a VDO volt gauge in to the empty XLT console hole. It is a true gauge, unlike the stock gauges.
The VDO gauge is mounted in an "L" shaped textured metal bracket that I cut from an old circuit box.
View of FX4 shifter, shift boot and VDO gauge. The hardest part was drilling the hole in the metal.
Where I keep my 3 D cell Maglite. I didn't want to hard mount it, and this keeps it right at hand
I added a 2.3 badge from the new Mazda 3, since my truck has basically the same 2.3 engine.
I added some chromed ABS tail light guards to the truck. They were $33 from Randy
The guards are Ford part# 2L5Z13B564BA. They stick to the lights with 3M tape.
I have FTP's polished stainless steel fender flares. They are the 3/4 style for mud flaps
The flares require drilling and rivets to attach to the wheel lip. I wish they were wider.
I have the dome light from an Explorer to replace my XLT on. I got it from Jon in FL
The new dome light puts out more light, but aims it a tad higher than my old XLT light.
A very quick mod is a Reese chrome trailer ball. It screws in, and helps deter tailgaters
I don't pull a trailer, but the ball is a good place to attach a tow strap if you get stuck.
I have a Whistler 1675 Compass laser/radar detector that's hard wired for power.
The detector uses the optional visor clip to attach to my headliner.
I also recently changed my clearance lights to the Maxxima LED M10280Y lights.
I installed a Home- Medics vibrating seat massager on my side.  I may build the unit into the seat itself.
The seat massager gets it's power from an accessory outlet that I installed in the back.
An easy way to secure cargo is to keep bungee cords stretched across the bed. I use the stock cargo hooks, small carabineers, and long bungee cords.
I installed Sylvania SilverStar 9007 bulbs in the headlights. They produce a bright white light compared to the old halogens. Very easy to install.

Good spot for decals. This one supports Ranger-forums.com     A good site for Ranger info
New Bully clear third brake light I purchased from ebay
Cargo light is angled to shine down into the bed, and works really well in the dark.
The brake light has reflectors which give it a nice uniform glow.
Overall, this is a good product that really goes well with the truck's color
